for writing this diary. This is the best explanation for what happened in the debate, OBAMA was soo stunned by what he was seeing and hearing that he basically froze. It seems like everyone here  have forgotten when Newt had the same experience during the republican primary. Newt basically called him a liar on national tv. No one in their right would think that a presidential candidate could be this blatant with his lies. What saddens me about this whole thing especially from the left  instead of calling out Mitt for all lies some are suggesting that Obama should have started calling him a liar right there. Maybe that would make for good theater but remember Obama is a seating president. There has to be a certain level of dignity and respect that comes with the office of the presidency. You can't act like everyone, is there anyone out there who believes that Obama would not have loved to call him a liar in his face but it carries a price for president. The narrative has to be established for Obama to do that and I believe that has happened if Mittens tries it again he will be called on it not only by the president but by the whole country. would I have like for the president to be more passionate in defending his policies absolutely but we seem to forget that Obama has always said he likes to give people the benefit of the doubt. I may be wrong but I will like to think it will be different next time.

the missing component in the hangwringer's assessment is:  Obama IS the President and he carried himself with a sense of decorum that he must exhibit or risk being called, un-Presidential.

And those who thought Romney looked presidential...they were already going to vote for the cantankerous lying sob regardless.
