I once lived in a large American city in which the filter was catching shrimp. Shrimp large enough you could tell they were shrimp with the naked eye.  The shrimp were dead...water chlorination killed them.  Chlorination did not kill the shrimp intestinal bacteria, with unpleasant outcomes on occasion.  However, we had a very good water filter.  There as, however, the occasion on which the filter holder was removed for exchange, and there on the filter was something about an inch and a half long, with large numbers of legs.  It was still moving.

So the answer is that the water is "potentially vegan" and "probably gluten free".

We can have change for the better.

the crustaceans were microscopically small and couldn't be seen or tasted.  But this created a dilemma for observant Jews and their ban on eating shellfish.
