    made the point that the movie was actually about the positive roll of women in society, made through a movie about violence and with only 3 women in the cast (one of whom didn't have a speaking part).  

    •  I think this is one of the weakest things (0+ / 0-)

      in the film.  Very stereotyped thinking, she is the "whore with a heart of gold" (she had given up her son to enjoy an immoral life of partying in the city), now, madonna-like she saves the child (and his future victims) because, being female, she is inherently virtuous, unlike the evil men who must be killed and excluded from the pure world of women and children.

      The original poster describes this as "radical".  It's not.
