  •  Decriminalization is nowhere close to enough (1+ / 0-)

Black and brown people are still subject to stop and frisk shakedowns: decriminalization is a fine people in poverty can not pay.

It still goes on your criminal record for life; you can not get Federal Financial Aid for college with a drug charge, ieven if it is a sub-misdemeanor offense (thieves, rapists & murders can still get the Aid, by the way)

If you grow plants, you are still subject to being imprisoned and having your property seized.  (And OPD gets what, 80%?)

So, that's not "effectively justice" to me.

    •  Ending the drug war isn't enough (3+ / 0-)

      Either.

What we are seeing is an attack on poor people of all colors, although black and brown get it the worst.  End the drug war and they'll find other excuses, although incidences will drop the basic structure of control through intimidation will continue.

The revolution will not be televised. But it will be blogged, a lot. Probably more so than is necessary.
