    Romney's win in the debate as a win for his ideas and policies, as opposed to a strictly technical win because Obama failed to defend and attack adequately. Romney's win was like a Moot Court win, in which one is asked to defend some absurd position like "Women shouldn't be allowed to vote", and happens to do a good job of it--or, rather, the other side does a bad job of refuting it. Doesn't make the position itself tenable let alone palatable.

    But if Douthat wants to believe in his magical pony, why ruin his fantasy? If he wants to believe that voters want more tax cuts for the rich and to kill Big Bird, let him. It's amusing to watch. These kids crack me up sometimes.
