  •  For me, it was another getting sick during a (7+ / 0-)

business dinner, and having to leave (run out of) the restaurant and go to the car to escape, and "remedy" myself.  It was a case of something I had just eaten (shellfish) I was grateful that I had a colleague there to jump in and bail me about.  I never recovered while in the back seat of the car in a prone position (no, not dunk) to go back into that restaurant and meeting.

Very embarrassing expensive business trip as word got out to the rest of the company about my meeting, and others took it to be that I had drank myself silly (which I do not, and have not in a business situation, nor at home either or anywhere else for that matter).

I now look back and laugh my butt off thinking about the entire evening and how it must have appeared to others, but have never eaten anything “exotic” during a business/entertainment function again.

    •  That's horrible (0+ / 0-)

Doesn't it get to you when people assume the worst?

At least you can laugh about it now!

    •  Mr. AzBlue got very sick in Paris (1+ / 0-)

We had gone to the Montmartre and Mr. AzBlue used to love moules or mussels.
Within one hour, he was sicker than a dog and he kept throwing up in garbage cans.
It was awful, because we had to get back home and the only way home was the subway and then the train.
We kept having to jump off the subway at nearly every stop so he could barf in the garbage receptacles.
By the time we boarded the train, he was able to use a bag we had found, but he was violently sick.
      It was awful.
He has never eaten mussels since.

opened even just a millimeter before you cook them. I wouldn't eat mussels unless I prepared them myself or in local restaurants in sauces  in Italy or paellas in Spain.

Glad he didn't need a hospital, that must have been a serious food poisoning. I don't think it's the mussels per se, it were rotten mussles.
