  •  The wealthy "game" the tax code (8+ / 0-)

Wealth buys power and influence.  Bill Maher had a good line with Frank Luntz on Real Time.  He said(and I paraphrase here) "The difference between rich republicans and rich Democrats is that we(the Democrats) don't mind paying more for the good of the country."
The real shame is that rich republicans are willing to destroy the country in order to keep more for themselves. They don't realize that their own prosperity and even security is dependent on a strong, prosperous  middle class.

"Remember, Republican economic policies quadrupled the debt before I took office and doubled it after I left. We simply can't afford to double-down on trickle-down." Bill Clinton

Where I live in Arapahoe Cty, CO, the Cherry Creek school system is considered one of the best.  Parent participation, 95% graduation rate and 93% college continuation.

Home prices stay solid, even during the 2008 debacle.  BUT the budgets have been slashed over the last 4 years by about $45M.  So we are floating a bond issue.  I have a support the 3A sign in my yard.

ALL of my neighbors sporting R/R signs do NOT have a sign supporting this initiative.

BUT stron CC schools are what keep their property values high even in a down economy.
