  •  enough with these diaries (7+ / 0-)

He lost because he didn't do his homework. The loss rejuvenated the other side & its base enthusiasm. It surely can cost some close down ticket races. Obama now has all the pressure to win the next round or results could be catastrophic. These theories are childish.

    •  Yes, but that doesn't make them wrong! ;-) (2+ / 0-)

    •  I am also growing tired of all the speculation of (6+ / 0-)

why he lost the first debate, however, I don't think it was because "he didn't do his homework".  He actually didn't do that badly in the debate, my problem was with is  closing statement, it was weak, very, very weak.  I think it would not be good to have the President of the United States call you a Bald Faced Liar in front of 70 million Americans. Clearly there were way to say it, but the President chose to leave it, ignore it, whatever, I don't think he didn't do his homework so that is why he didn't respond.

Do you remember when Joe Wilson called the President a Liar when he was addressing the Congress about HCR? Do you remember the President's response?  Hell Nancy Pelosi looked like she would kick his butt, but the President just remained calm and cool. I think this was just more of the same, trying to maintain composure, debating someone you really, really dislike, to do otherwise would not have been pretty or presidential.

Of "homework". It's time to move on and do what has to be done in remaining debates.

isn't some elementary student needing to be schooled. Whatever you think of his performance, strategy, closing statement, et al, it is both insulting and impolitic to demean him in such fashion.

during the debate, I thought that was going to be used in the closing, I was wrong. Homework is when you rehearse a closing statement as Romney did, it sounded like it was rehearsed and something he planned to say regardless of what transpired, sounded disengenous at the least. The closing was the opportunity to tie all of Romney's lies together, the  5 billion dollar tax cuts, the not knowing about the tax breaks from shipping jobs overseas, the pre-existing conditions lie, the 47% comment and of course firing Big Bird and Jim Leher. It was all there, he has talked about it forever, it should have been easy,  that is exactly what I was waiting for, hence my disappointment.
