  •  HR'd for advancing false narratives (4+ / 1-)

about Obama "fucking up" and "pissing away" the good work of OTHERS.

    That is NOT true.

    •  Please. (19+ / 0-)

Disagree, fine, but LincolnDuncan is entitled to his opinion.  If he feels that Obama's debate performance hurt in that way, then he has a right to say it.  It's not a "false narrative" because the commenter wasn't representing it as an independently verifiable fact.

      Have you googled Romney today?

      •  How has Obama's debate (4+ / 0-)

"pissed away" the good work of others?

Barack Obama cannot be blamed for the wilful ignorance of the American electorate. An immature bunch that needs to be spoon fed soundbites and entertained with theatrics morning noon and night. How can a 90-minute scripted debate change someone's mind so substantively? I don't buy it. Sorry.

We've been there before. Long before Barack Obama. The entertaining cowboy was elected because people went with media narratives and superficial criteria and he and his Republican and corporate allies ruined the country and left it in shambles. When will this country GROW up and stop blaming single individual

A diary saying Wake the F up America would be more appropriate.

My point was that you shouldn't HR somebody because you disagree with them.  You can't claim that the "pissed away" characterization is materially untrue anymore than Lincoln can claim that it's materially true.  That's what makes it an opinion not a fact, and that's why it shouldn't be HR'ed.

I think that claiming Obama has "pissed away" work is an overstatement; however, the President enjoyed a statistically significant lead just before the debate, and he lead is now within the MOE.  One could thus argue that some of the gains made by work done beforehand have been lost as a result of the debate.

My opinion is that the situation is more nuanced (bad word, I know).  I think that the statistically significant lead that Obama enjoyed before the debate had more to do with the 47% tape than anything else.  Of course the tape reinforced the image of Romney that the President should be credited with cultivating, but the size of Obama's lead just before the debate was really a direct result of that tape.  If that tape hadn't surfaced, then perhaps Romney would be leading right now; but then again, I doubt Obama would have played so much prevent defense in the absence of the 47% tape.  So it's hard to claim that work was or wasn't "pissed away."

I think that diaries like this one are stupid and should be dismissed.  They're completely irrational and useless because this election isn't about Obama.  It's about the kind of country we want in the future, and this pathetic rant misses that point entirely.

          •  That kind of language to address the president (1+ / 0-)

is insulting and offensive and is one step away from the other types of language.

That's a big part of my HR. To discourage the "disrespect creep" that I've observed here over the last few days.

People have taken liberties to refer to the President with all kinds of disrespect as if he's somebody's little boy.

And they don't use that language towards other politicians who may have had off nights, or made mistakes.

When critiques of the President are countered by bitching about how much Americans suck. Very classy.

    •  That's not an HR worthy comment (9+ / 0-)

I understand your frustration, but HR'ing comments just because you don't like them isn't going to help anything.
