    I thought that those political dynasties didn't have much love for eachother. Much like the Manchins and Moores.

      Those political dynasties have something of an unofficial nonaggression pact. And it could be that the Huntsmans view keeping the Mathesons alive as more politically palatable than dealing with a "rising star" like Mayor Love in Utah.

        . . . that a lot of rival political dynasties have relationships similar to those between Geno's and Pat's (the two most famous cheesesteak joints in Philly). The rivalry strengthens each, and the absence of one rival would diminish the other's profile.
