a will, there is a WAY for the crooks to pull some scam off. The high-tech stuff makes it easier for them to do it.

    •  Actually, I grew up there (8+ / 0-)

And I know all about Florida's interesting political atmosphere.  When I registered to vote, the nice lady told me I had to register Democrat or Republican, and that there was no way to register "Independent."  I've never forgotten it.

The high tech stuff I'm talking about would not make things easier.  It would make it extremely difficult to turn in thousands of faked, forged ballots if each one of them had to be authenticated against the voter's original signature on record.

Currently, it's a lack of authentication technology, it seems, that appears to be allowing the fraud to occur.  And if there's no tech to authenticate signatures, and it has to be done by human eyes and hands, they have a good claim of "burdensome" -- not that I think this should stop authentication.

I'm simply commenting about how far behind we lag in some areas of our lives when it comes to technology.  We've got cell phones that know when we're looking at them. We've got mail-sorting equipment that can read thousands of hand-written envelopes every minute.  But we can't verify whether or not signatures have been forged on the documents that decide the direction of our country.
