in the sub link.  And yes it is a judgement call, but at least the people in the elections office have training in interpreting signatures.  The thing is that signing in when one votes in person is still no guarantee.  I am 65 and my signature is different than it was five years ago. The main plus I saw of Mail In Voting was the increase and continuing high levels of voter participation.

I am so afraid that some of us might be jumping the shark with fears of voter fraud that we might be committing the same misguided reasons for inhibiting people from voting just like the Republicans have done.  No system is perfect, but the system that is the most inclusive will be always the fairest system IMHO.  Greater voter participation is always better for the democratic process.

Both my sister and I voted absentee, since we were both out of state.  In PA absentee votes have to be in by the Friday before the election, and then get sent to the precincts where they would normally vote.  My dad told me that for both me and my sister, he had to verify that it was our signatures, because out signatures had changed since we had registered.

If my dad hadn't been a poll worker, our votes would not have been counted.
