ac adaptors.  I dropped my wife kossack Jakkalbessie's adapter on the concrete floor in the front room of our camp house and it quit working.  Meh.  Bought a new one off ebay at a reasonable price, quick and easy, never had to leave the camp house.

    Adapter tale #2
There are two remote 'rest camps'  that we like stay in our little dome tent in in Kruger National Park in the Republic of South Africa, and both have that have internet cafes.

That way we can put up our stories and pictures on Traveljournals.net while we are still in Africa.

The internet cafe at Skukuza Rest Camp had a power surge and, you guessed it, our lap top adaptor was fried FTW!!!!

Here's a link to the tale of what it took to get another one:

and I thought I had problems!

Well I've confirmed now that the problem is the adapter, not the laptop.  I have no idea why it quit but this isn't the first time I've had one go on me, but for other reasons.

I'm charging the battery at the hospital now and I ordered a new one from battdepot.com.  It should be here in 2-3 business days.  In the meantime I'll charge the battery while at the hospital then conserve battery power as much as possible and do whatever I can on my son's computer.  I'm just glad it's not the laptop itself and it is going to be a real pain until the adapter arrives.  I've already gotten behind in some work as a result of it.  Argh.  But your story just made me feel better about how relatively easy it is to get a new one!

        Hope adapter comes in soon.

We are waiting for our mail in ballots.  Called the registrar's office and they were mailed Wednesday a week ago from Austin to Santa Fe.  Man I hope they come in soon. Got me worried.
