  •  And you'll be the perfect example (6+ / 0-)

of how goddam profane we liberals are. Nice going.

I'm sure Dr. Tiller will be glad to hear that there are no extremist Christians who are murderously violent.

    •  there are 300 million people in this country (0+ / 0-)

nearly 80% of adults are Christians.  and what percentage of them are murderers for jesus?  a few insane people who probably would have killed for some other reason if they hadn't used their religion to do it.

as for my profanity.  yes.  what matters about what i said about not fanning flames of fear of a religious group is that i used profanity.  it's funny, i got the same exact response from christians that i told to stop fucking saying that we need to be afraid of muslims.  just thought it was awful how profane i am.  (eyes rolling)

      •  You know (8+ / 0-)

they get their panties in a wad when we use swear words. I've seen posts where they point it out. You're the one who started the "Oh, heavens, what will they think of us" line of reasoning. I could give a good flying fuck about your language.

The diary is about Christian Reconstructionists. The comment you replied to mentioned extremists. Nobody said your Episcopal neighbor is a murderer. You brought that into it.

And no one called you racist. He said your assertion was racist.

        •  reconstructionists are not murderous (0+ / 0-)

they aren't flying planes into buildings to kill thousands of people, so, saying that it's not muslim extremists we need to worry about, rather it's christian extremists, because some nut somewhere said something idiotic but never acted on it, is completely fucking wrong

it's wrong.  it's factually wrong and the IDEA is wrong.  it was wrong when it was done to muslims and it's wrong when it's done to christians.  even the reconstructionists.

anyway.  i need to get back to work.

          •  Anton, you got to chill out dude! (11+ / 0-)

You are freaking out over my comment, as if I hurt you in some mysterious way.

First, I said Christian extremists, the key word here is extremists, I did not say all Christians. Why did I say that? Because, frankly domestically they outnumber Muslim extremists. The reasoning behind my statement about Peter King can be summed out by this Think Progress statement:

In fact, right-wing extremist and white supremacist attacks plots alone outnumber plots by Muslims, with both groups being involved in 63 terror plots, 18 more plots than Muslim Americans have been involved in.
Given the fact that non-Muslim terrorists account for almost twice as many plots as Muslim terrorists in the United States since 9/11, King’s justification that he is targeting Muslims because they represent the primary threat seems hollow. Additionally, King’s hearings come at a time when Muslim American terrorism and involvement in extremism has actually plummeted in the past couple years, according to a Duke University study put out last month.
Perhaps now that you have understood my line of reasoning you can seriously calm down. I was not attacking the Christian faith, or all Christians. There are liberals, moderates and extremists in every faith. But in America one faith and its extremists outnumber another faith and its extremists. Fair enough?
          •  On the contrary: (6+ / 0-)

One of the phone calls Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh made shortly before the bombing, which was the biggest domestic terrorist attack in American history prior to 9-11, was to Rev. David Millar - head of Elohim City, a Christian Identity survivalist compound on the Oklahoma/Kansas border.

One of the theological streams underlying the strain of belief informing the residents of Elohim City is indeed Christian Reconstructionism, and Reconstructionist thinkers have also helped inspire the massive wave of domestic terrorism, bombings and assassinations, carried out against reproductive health clinics in the U.S. over the past two decades.

Not all Christian Reconstructionists, I would point out, endorse violence in the service of the cause. But many who have been influential in the movement do.

    •  and thanks for hring the comment calling me racist (0+ / 0-)

      oh wait

don't talk to me about my profanity.  i am not the one who called someone a racist.

      •  I see nothing "racist" in your comment Anton (0+ / 0-)

...and there is room and time for "profanity" when nothing else would do.

You spoke your heart's truth. I have no problem with it.
