    is not a demgraphic category.

    So?

Region, age, sex and race - all are demos that should be reasonably linked to the actual electorate.

Where's the poll surveying 60+% women - a demo known to be more likely to vote than men?

Just remember, if El Rushbo and the wingers are bellowing about liberal dirty tricks to drive down their enthusiasm, they're projecting - aka telling us what they are actually up to.

    •  Well - (10+ / 0-)

Agree with this diary and the comments.
But we are doing exactly what the R did when the polls all showed Romney losing.
So we laugh at them when they go "the polls are rigged for D's."
And god how we laughed. And mocked. And gloated.
And now that the polls are tilting their way a bit, we  IMMEDIATELY say "bias! skewed. NO! here's why "

And I say that, agreeing with this diary.
And I say that, thinking how are am I any different than them in jumping on the "it can't be!" bandwagon.

      Ugh.

      Are we both right?

One think I have learned this week - I despise the media.
For getting their way no matter what.
      And so does the right.
      Another UGH.

Repubs started up the car, hit the throttle and sent it over the cliff, and now they're complaining that the black guy hasn't fixed it fast enough.

      •  It's not the same (6+ / 0-)

The OP has presented credible facts to support his/her contention that the poll was skewed to favour likely Romney supporters by citing previous turnout etc.

From what I have seen of the Right's contention that the polls are skewed, they simply don't believe more people support Obama than Romney ergo the polls must be wrong.

Similar conclusion but different paths of arrival.

There's always a twitch, but it goes away quickly  : D

Been a while, how are you?

        * Yeah, the cries of bias and "skewed" from folks here is painful to watch.

The GOP says you have to have an ID to vote, but $ Millionaire donors should remain anonymous?

      •  No. That's A FALSE Equivalency. We Are Not (4+ / 0-)

questioning the poll results solely because the pollsters are "overpolling" R's or "something doesn't smell right."

The demographics/cross-tabs of every poll should be made available so that we can all see whether  the pollsters methodology complies with general polling standards.

If women or minorities or Northerners are underrepresented or predominate in a sample that information allows a reasonable assessment of whether, where and how to use the results of the poll.

The Cons insane "unskewing" ploy should not be allowed to pre-empt, embarass, or otherwise limit our ability to ask reasonable questions about the demographics of a poll sample that is supposed to be an approximate representation of a state's or a nation's demographics.
