  •  Tony Abbott looked so smug at the beginning (8+ / 0-)

    and about an inch high by the end.

    This isn't going to work out well for him.  He had to get his wife to go around and say "He's not a misogynist, he's married and has three daughters!", as if that's what it takes to not be a misogynist.  Let me give you a brief introduction to him;

    - At University was known to be a extreme homophobe and misogynist, going so far as to stand outside of special women's only rooms and tell sexist and homophobic jokes loudly to intimidate those inside

    - As health minister under John Howard, opposed access the abortion drug RU486 (Mifepristone) to women, which required a Parliamentary Member's bill to lift the ban and give power to the Theraputic Goods Administration (TGA) in Australia to administer it and remove it's control from politicians.  Since abortion has been legalised in Australia, both sides of Parliament have stayed away from restricting it, until him.

    - On 7 March 2010, Abbott was asked: "Homosexuality? How do you feel about that?". He replied: "I'd probably feel a bit threatened ... it's a fact of life and I try to treat people as people and not put them in pigeonholes."  He later apologised for the statement.

    -  In February 2006, he said, "We have a bizarre double standard, a bizarre double standard in this country where someone who kills a pregnant woman's baby is guilty of murder but a woman who aborts an unborn baby is simply exercising choice."

    - Promises to deliver tax cuts, whilst simultaneously cutting revenue measures such as the Mining Tax, as well as repealing legislation such as Poker Machine reforms and Tobacco Branding Legislation - both new and excellent pieces of legislation.

    Overall, he's a terrible politician, and the reason for the large amount of bile and bad behaviour can be traced back to how he performs in Parliament, as well as who he has chosen as his ministers.  One had to resign recently who equated homosexuality with bestiality (Cory Bernadi), but Tony Abbott didn't fire him, but instead merely accepted his resignation.

    He also has not refuted a right wing radio talk host (Alan Jones) for his comments at a Sydney University Liberals Society (the Liberal Party of which Tony Abbott is the leader is actually the conservative party of Australia) in which he said that Julia Gillard's recently deceased father "died of shame".  Instead he now claims that it is Jones who is being harassed and 'cyber-bullied' after a campaign to remove sponsors from advertising on his show, and even used the same words "died of shame" today referring to the Labor party.  Which basically shows him as being either blitheringly stupid, or deliberately using those words to get a reaction out of Gillard.

    He is an absolute misogynistic sexist homophobic piece of garbage and I hope to high heaven that the Liberal party start to smell his stench and drop him like a bad habit.

        He was training to be a priest, but something fell of the rails along the way.

        He also said in an interview when asked what Jesus' reaction would be to asylum seekers coming to Australia via boat was as follows;

        “Jesus didn’t say yes to everyone,” Mr Abbott said on ABC television’s Q&A program, according to the Herald Sun.

        “Jesus knew that there was a place for everything and it’s not necessarily everyone’s place to come to Australia.”

        Suffer the little children indeed.  So long as they're nice white Liberal voters to be, not brown children fleeing terrible situations and persecution in their home countries, often from the result of conflicts of which Australia is a part.

      Fetal murder didn't exist before abortion became legal, based on fetal viability.  It only became a crime when abortion no longer had to be justified and reviewed by a panel of designated almost always male professionals.

      Brava, Julia Gillard.
