  •  jackass was too kind a word to describe him. (6+ / 0-)

all of it low. It looks to me like he's just trying to cover himself for when he has to slink off post bankruptcy. I just feel sorry for those kids.

    •  Timeshare mogul = crook. (0+ / 0-)

I went to a timeshare event once, just to see what went on. A bunch of invited chumps--er, guests-- watching a slide show about wonderful, wonderful condos in Colorado, complete with pix of people skiing and riding horseback in the mountains. (The actual pix of the condos looked like Motel Six given a coat of paint, IHMO.) You could buy a week's worth of use each year for only $21,000. Think of how much you could save not staying in hotels! And this wasn't renting, you were buying your share in this condo, so you'd own real estate! It was sure to appreciate in price so you'd make money if you ever wanted to sell!

People were being led off to side rooms to "do the deal." A pair of bright young people tried to lay a contract on me.

"Excuse me, but I'd like my lawyer to look this over first. May I have a copy to take with me?"

Oh, no. They didn't have copies.

"We're in an office building. I imagine there's a copier around here someplace."

No, that wouldnt work. Their contracts were bound in special covers. They couldn't let them out of their offices.

At this point, a manager was called. He offered me the same deal except at $13,000, if I agreed to take my share in December.

I didn't have a calculator, but I can do simple math in my head. "$13,000 a share times 50 shares. So in essence, you are selling these 1-bedroom condos, somewhere in Colorado, sight unseen, for $600,000 each?  Really? And that's a good deal?"

They backed off. They were not set up to deal with someone who wasn't dazzled by the pretty pictures.
