I actually stopped supporting PBS a few years ago, because of their knuckling under to charges of being "in the bag" for Dems...I saw the results of that high level decision in their programming.

I expected better from PBS.  But at the end of the day, it's just a business.  They don't need my hard earned $50...though they never cease in asking for it.  Problem is, there's a right winger next door who get's the same mail solicitations, and they don't care who they get their money from.  My sense, these days, is that they are willing to temper their message to fill the coffers.

    Oregon:'s cold. But it's a damp cold.

I don't disagree with much of what you say, but the hard cold truth is that you can't run a broadcasting system without funds. The only way PBS could be "free" to do whatever they want, would be for them to be privately owned, and that's the conundrum that can't be denied. As long as they are dependent on government funding, AND corporate donations, they are on a tight rope.  This is the reality of their choices and their position.

    •  Keith - why should PBS care who gives it $$? (0+ / 0-)

The overwhelming percentage of broadcasting on PBS has nothing to do with politics and is enjoyed by Americans of all political stripes.
