  •  Oh, I see what you mean. Yes maybe snark. (1+ / 0-)

I'm a little too sensitive these days to political nuance. I'm just completely blown away that the vast majority of people and the media can consider a performance based on lies an unqualified success. There isn't even a "even though it was on style and not substance" caveat to the "he won" narrative. And the fact that it could affect even the temporary polls as much as it has is just stunning-- not to mention scary.  So my snark meter, as well as my patience is pretty non-existent. I apologize for any harshness.

I hear you. It's been a tough week.  Rachel said something tonight I want to share with you, because it was funny and true.  She was quoting a pollster on the responses he gets whenever polls swing.

"The republicans want to kill me.  The Democrats want to kill themselves."

LOL. So true. The longer I see it, the more I know it.  Political parties attract personality types that go beyond the policies and the ideologies.  Democrats chew their nails, republicans buff their nails, rub them on their lapels, blow, and enjoy their self satisfaction.

    •  I guess the emotional response is the metric. (0+ / 0-)

Which is one of the reasons Big Bird is
not as trivial as some here have suggested.

If you deconstruct the qualities, and values,
of this character, one would find the basic
mores that lay at the heart of so much progressive
      ideology. Compassion, empathy, kindness, caring,
community, friendship. Not the best Ayn Rand model.

There are very deep psychological themes in this.
Resonant. There are reasons the meme went viral
on the internets in the hours and days after the debate.
And then through the global media infotainment complex.

Perhaps OFA should hold back on this, but we should
all be riding this Big Bird for all his feathery worthiness.

Thanks for all of your efforts.
