Why do they not even bother to take the time to do research or understand the world around them?  Is it because they are stupid?  No.  Are they intelligent?  Of course they can be.  A number of people choose to live their lives without the influence of politics and think it's not the ideal way of living for them.
    Some people are stupid. (Bush)

Some people are technically intelligent, but lack intellectual curiosity. They have no desire to research subjects they find dull. (Romney fits into this category IMHO)

Other people avoid politics, world events, and even history, because they find it frightening or depressing. I have an aunt (by marriage) who refuses to watch the news (or read it) for that reason. A former co-worker said the same thing to me once: "I can't stand watching it. It's all so upsetting."

Then you have the most confused people of all - the Faux News watchers. You know it's bad when someone who doesn't read the news or watch the news, knows more about current events than you do...but that's what has happened to Fox News watchers!

Fox News viewers worst-informed, study finds

Fox News viewers are less informed than those who watch other programmes, or no TV news at all, research has found.

Blackadder: Everything goes over your head, doesn't it, George? You should go to Jamaica and become a limbo dancer.
