Jack Welch represents a class of of people and their ideology. Should we go after Siegel? Even less people know who Siegel is, but there is a value to putting faces and names to something that otherwise most people, as you put it, se it as an abstract thing. Go after Wall St! What? The light poles?

This is not only about Jack Welch just as the French Revolution was not only about Louis XVI. This is about the corporate establishment and how far they are willing to go and how far their minions are willing to carry the water for them.

BTW, most Americans don't know who Welch is, you are right,  but plenty do and I would bet that a big percentage of NYT readers do. More people know today who Jack Welch is than they did last Friday. Now, I agree with you on this point, this has a limited shelf life.

"The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie -- deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic. Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought." -John F. Kennedy
