I personally don't buy the bs about the community reinvestment act and the lending rules changed more under Bush than Clinton or Carter.

But the three horsemen of the apocalypse, leaving out derivatives and credit default swaps, and repeal of Glass-Steagal,  were done on Clinton's watch, and by his own word, his agreement.

Its been diaried about here.   Clinton was hardly the only one to go along, the deregulation would have occured under Bush in any event.  But Clinton is being lionized while Obama is criticized to hell and back.  It's been a drumbeat in a series of diaries from the convention on,  Clinton is great, if only Obama (insert criticism du jour).

Obama has done some amazing things under horrible conditions.  One debate won't end his chances of re-election or detract from three and one half years of governing more to the good of average people than not.

    •  I agree that the repeal of Glass/Steagall (0+ / 0-)

was horrendous and quite possibly the single biggest cause of the collapse. I also believe that when Obama is re-elected and has served his second term, he will prove to have been a better president than Bill Clinton.

So let's get that done, and hopefully Obama can get G/S reinstated....forward...maybe not as fast as we'd like, but forward all the same.
