    Just being arrested for an offense can draw fines of various sorts.  Get convicted of various crimes, and the convictee will have pay any number of mandatory fees to the courts and to "service organizations" around them.  And yes, that includes various mandatory programs supported by liberals.

    While the state pays the private prisons, the public courts and related organizations turn on the arrested person and demand direct payments.

    I recently helped a friend get a car impounded by cops.  Fees to release it, and then fees to the towing company.  All demanded cash only.  I noted to him the similarity to drug dealers who demand only cash for their services also.
