I'm in southern Ohio and this is deer hunting central. I don't care for the thought of shooting what I consider a beautiful creature. I do however realize how necessary it is.

All their natural predators were killed off over a century ago. Deer don't practice the sort of natural birth control other species do. Bucks get horny, does get pregnant, fawns are born in April. T'was ever thus. If left to breed without the annual thinning of the herd, they absolutely would over browse their food supply. On the whole I'd rather they be shot - for food, not trophy  - than starve to death.

On the other hand, I've come to loath gun season simply because of the type of people it attracts here. City boys with no consideration for anyone's property rights, fences, animals or much of anything else.

Part of posting this, was to show how not everyone who ventures afield this time of year, is a beer-drinking slob with no regard to other people's property.

They give everyone else who might do this a bad name.

Hopefully I made someone think about that just a little bit.

Obama saw this a**hole coming a mile away.

with the local guys around here. They've been doing this for generations and know how to act. They also know what a fence usually means. Plus they know what a deer looks like. It doesn't look like a cow, goat, or dog, and doesn't walk on two legs. If you get my meaning.

These guys from the city act like this is the frontier and they're Dan'l Boone. Personally I think they're a little scared out here.
