    ....and compare Obama and McCain's performances based on their respective ad buys in various media markets, it quickly becomes clear that advertising really, really matters.  If a candidate has a disproportionate advertising presence in any given media market, it's a good bet he or she will overperform significantly in that media market.

        In markets where one party dominated the advertising, that party performed better relative to its baseline than they did in the other areas of those states where either both parties were advertising heavily or neither party was doing anything.
