  •  Exit Interview? (6+ / 0-)

Get your new job first, then let it rip.  The last hospital I worked at mailed an exit questionnare to me a few weeks after I retired.

Finally......I was finally able to say what I really thought about how thinly they spread their nurses, how dangerous it was to work there & that they made their nurses pay for educational classes held at the hospital......instead of appreciating nurses who were interested in keeping up, they made us pay to do it.

    •  I doubt that company does anything like (4+ / 0-)

that but that's why I was thinking of writing the CEO an anonymous letter after I'm gone. I don't care if she knows it's me, I just think it would intrigue her to wonder who it is for a while. ;-P

BTW, you'd think a HOSPITAL would like to be deeply invested and concerned about the ongoing training of people who keep other people alive. It's not like cosmetology licensing where you have to have updated training of some sort to renew your license. It's not like a new hair weaving technique. I'm pretty sure that these classes were important enough to save a life.

smh. Nurses don't make enough as it is. I completely understand. That's fucked up.

      •  for profit. that's all it's about. (3+ / 0-)

Doesn't matter if it's a hospital - shit, a good friend who was the head nurse on a kidney transplant unit (large urban hospital) told me that hospital managment COUNTED on the nursing & support staff to care about their patient's welfare & TAKE whatever crappy scheduling, personnel cutbacks, etc they wanted to dish out, just so their spreadsheets were nice & healthy.  Fucking vultures.

Your company management sounds like petty dictators run wild.  They don't sound smart enough by a long shot -- if the quality of their workers goes down & their products suck as a result, they don't think there;ll be consequences, like if (god forbid) there's a fatal crash due to parts failure??

I'm so angry & sorry for you, GenX.  I have no advice for you except to stay true and stay connected with the good people there - you need each others support.   You have my support, even if it's only over the intertubes :)

    •  I think that exit interviews are, as pundits love (3+ / 0-)

      To say, performance art.

Former employees take lots of time to tell the truth and nothing ever changes.

At least, that's been my experience at corporations, perhaps small business is different.

I tend to doubt it though.
