    People who saw it in person tell me that there was so much water going over the top of Scott Dam that you could barely tell it was there.

    Even without a big flood, though, the Northwestern Pacific - like Highway 101 for that matter - is problematic. The geology up here is like chocolate pudding, and it moves on human timescales. Sometimes when I take people driving around on the north coast, I tell them when the road was last rebuilt, and remind them that it was flat when Caltrans left it.

    Highway 101 falls and collapses as much as the railroad did, but everyone gets that the road has to go through.

      maybe that's what it's called, I've closed it again, anyway, that is such an iconic and totally cool chunk of rock, I can't imagine it's not a sacred bit of landscape to the real americans here.

      Last I went by there in june  at 5am  only one on the road, me and the deer...bigfoot was hitchhiking but going the wrong way, sorry dude..

      I can't wait to get back...socal is awfuller and awfuller.

      and last I looked..closed it..there were maybe twenty and I'd expandered em an  read em I swears it!

      so header wrong...but new tag appeared on my new comment when I jes postered it..so that's right.
