  •  Obama injected some unneeded drama into (17+ / 0-)

this race with a bad debate performance.  However, it was just that...one bad performance.  Biden wiped that bad taste out of our mouths yesterday.

I think the bar for success in the next debate has become very low for Obama.  All he has to do is make his supporters feel like he competed well.  It was the same for Bush in 2004. Kerry won the second/third debates on points, but Bush was definitely better in debates 2 and 3 than he was in debate #1, and that's all his people needed to see.

All Obama has to do is push Romney to the right on every issue  and defend his Administration's policies with the same command of detail that Biden displayed.  That to me = a win.

That type of win will buoy the campaign and make the choice clear.

In regards to the polls, outside of a few outlier polls, what we've seen in most national polls is essentially the same trend that we've had most of the year.  A tie or narrow 1-3 point lead for either candidate depending on the type of LV screen.  That doesn't really indicate much change.

The state polls look pretty good for Obama though there has been some narrowing from the 47% September highs.

One good debate performance by Obama will remove the noise factor in current polling and provide a more accurate picture of the race.
