  •  Interesting, my dad has been dead 10 years and (7+ / 0-)

I still get at least one piece of mail for him or Mom once a week. Mom has been gone 7 years.

Death does not stop mail.  I think because Dad belonged to the Union plus he gave to like several charities, many in fact. He might only give 10 dollars per year to each but they continue to mail him pleas for money.

I loved one letter that said...

We know you are probably busy Mr. G or you just forgot to mail in your contribution. But you are one of our reliable donors, and we thank you.
Yes Dad has been a little busy being dead. He would laugh as he was a retired letter carrier that even Death does not stop mail even after a decade.

It reminds me of when an insurance company kept calling him and despite death certificates sent to them would not believe MOm and Dad were both dead. They would leave messages on our answering machine for my dead parents.

    I said..

Dad hated answering the phone and talking on the phone when he was  alive, not likely he will call you know. Do not hold your breath on that. LOL

    •  Same thing with my dad (5+ / 0-)

Months after he died I spent an afternoon on the phone trying to keep my temper with someone at the insurance company who refused to believe that he was dead. He'd been billing the hell out of the company for his lung transplant -- did they think he just got all better one day?

However, about 28 hours after he died, my mother got a scam robocall claiming to be from the credit card company. If my mother would like her card to not be canceled, enter the number and expiration date now. (In her grief and our chaos, being en route to the funeral home, she gave the information, but immediately realized what she'd done and canceled the card before any harm was done.)

So how can scammers know in a day, but insurance companies can play dumb months later?

      •  Me too, I went round and round for months until (1+ / 0-)

my sister from Atlanta and I walked into the insurance office and my sister lit into them.  She said her sister up here in PA was going through hell and did not need more crap.
