    that anyone can be a good person without the threat of hellfire and brimstone hanging over their heads.

    They have no concept of people who don't need a religious doctrine to know the difference between the right way and the wrong way to treat another (fully born) human being.

    Ryan and people like him think we need a strong daddy in the sky to watch over us and make us do (what they consider) right under threat of eternal damnation.

    They are the worst kind of hypocrites, however, because they behave in ways that -- if their professed God really cared about the things we humans do -- would cause them to be stricken by a lightning bolt and killed.

    And PS: Separation of church and state. Why do people like Ryan never remember that part of our founding doctrine?
