Plato's " The Cave" taught me to question reality.

are both unquestionably Christian. Mormons claim to be Christian so that is a debate for Christians to have amongst themselves.

cuz they don't think Catholics are truly Christian on account of their way of earning heavenly access thru religious activities.

        •  but religiosity in any form is detestable (0+ / 0-)

to Jesus who said the proud 'I thank God I'm not like those sinners, especially that guy over there' Pharisee was not accepted while that other guy who prayed humbly 'have mercy on me' went home accepted.  God looks at the heart, and these Republicans are as dark-hearted as can be.

    •  They're christian if they call themselves so. (2+ / 0-)

I see this idea tossed about so frequently, I have to speak out against it.  It seems like more often than not, they claim they are christian.

Their religion may consider Mohammed a prophet, and Jesus a prophet, and their con-artist founder a prophet, but if they want to call themselves christian, that's entirely their call.

Being a christian entails nothing objectively verifiable.  It's a label that people choose to apply to themselves, so you cannot deny it about others.

That might not line up with everyone's idea for what the word means, but since christianity isn't based on any physical reality you can't dispute their use of the word is any less valid than yours.

Just let them use the word if they want to.  It's meaningless.
