  •  You mean the investigators who couldn't even get (0+ / 0-)

to the scene for two weeks because the security situation in Benghazi was too severe? And who knew it was the CIA's job to be forensic specialists after-the-fact, instead of the masters of predicting possible danger close? An investigation into who said what to whom to and from Washington is an investigation that should take about 48-96 hours.

Blaming the "video" for a full week wasn't making shit up? Please.

Last I checked, the State Department was part of the Executive Branch of government. The security of American diplomatic personnel is their responsibility . They may delegate it, if circumstances warrant, but it's still their responsibility.

    •  Because you're such an expert on how long it (0+ / 0-)

should take to conduct an investigation in a country that has very recently overthrown a brutal 40 year regime in a violent civil war with more than a few factions vying for power and dominance? And you don't think it might take just a little more time to assess & corroborate the differing accounts from these different factions to verify or disprove their accuracy? I've no doubt that was what was being done from the outset and what continues to be done now. That goddamned video caused havoc for weeks all throughout the middle east, there were witnessess in Libya saying there were protests because of the video and the first intel that came out was that the attackers used the crowds as cover from which to launch their attack. Then over a period of days the intel began to be firmed up as their information base expanded and the circumstances became more clear and with corroboration. That's how intel works and that's why you don't shoot before you aim in circumstances like this! Romney is the one who massively fucked up the handling of this attack and the dumb ass bubbleheads that pretend to be journalists raised the ante. But I don't believe for one second that President Obama or Secretary Clinton have done or tried to do anything to try to"cover up" what really happened. I think they are both honorable people who cared about these men and want to find out how it happened, who is responsible and do everything in their power to prevent something like this again. Although that is impossible to do given the dangerous nature of some of the countries we have diplomatic relationships with.

But if you think this GOP and the incompetent likes of Darrel Issa are going to come up with anything resembling the truth, I've got a bridge for sale.....

    •  It is 11 years later and we still do not know how (0+ / 0-)

9-11 happened.  How did the administration, the CIA and the fBI miss something that was under their nose but they did.  How could we launch a war on a false premise but we did and we still don't have answers on how that happened.  So as awful as the Libyan situation is, it is small potato's.  Maybe the answer is that we close all our consulates and only have Embassies that we can defend.  It would shrink our influence but it would keep us safer from attack. at least in the short term and Republicans are the poster children for short term thinking.
