live now in Marin County, California, you know, we have George Lucas here with LucasArts ranch and Industrial Light Magic (which has since relocated to The Presidio in San Francisco).   We lived on such a quiet street, Halloween was a "ho hum" get a few kids kind of event.

Until one year we took a stroll down the street and around the corner and OMG.   There was a house there of people who worked at Industrial Light Magic.  What a hoot it was!!  I laughed so hard at their whole display and the special effects, of course!

They had their whole front yard ghouled out, with things flying around screeching.   They had a really scary graveyard, with (actors) ghouls and zombies coming out of it right up to you (hey, even I backed up a bit with a chill down my spine).

They had a long dining table along the driveway with a gruesome head on a platter that startlingly turned to look at you as you approached!  (An actor's head.)   They also had what appeared to be holographic ghouls appearing and fading away right in front of you.

And then in the big front window of the house, they had a screen set up and big surround-sound speakers, showing Michael Jackson's Thriller, but with all of them dressed up as Jackson ghouls dancing around with it!  It was literally a scream!

I laughed so hard that night.  I had no idea our neighbors were so aberrant-ly wild.

So that inspired us when we moved from our condo into a neighborhood house with a yard to do similar.  (See my post above. ;)

Industrial Light Magic in the neighborhood.  Guaranteed Halloween thrills and chills!  How lucky we were!
