Until some rowdy types came and caused too much violent trouble that caused the City to step in with regulations that watered it all down.

One year the spouse and I rented costumes.  I went as "Black Bart, saloon gambler" and she was a saloon-girl floozy in red Can-Can outfit, with feathers and net stockings and garter (with pistol in it).   It was great!

So we went down to the Castro in our elaborate get-ups and had so much fun.  The costumes we saw were awesome!   It seems like some folks there spend hundreds and thousands of $$ on their costumes, and spend the whole year planning them.  Wow.

One amusing thing that kept happening was that all the gay folk couldn't tell if we were a same-sex couple or not.  I mean, the spouse coulda been in drag for all they knew.  So they kept coming up to us to check.

When gay guys in drag determined that the spouse was, in fact, a glamorous female, they wanted to hang out with her and chat like girls.   They loved it when she complimented their hair, makeup and outfits.

After awhile her feet started to hurt in the show-girl heels she was wearing.  So she was limping along a bit.   A T-lady came up to her with his/her heels dangling from her hand,  also barefoot, and commented, "Are we girls having a bit of trouble with our shoes?"  We laughed.

It was so much fun.   Halloween for adults, really!!

Haven't been into The City for Halloween since the ordinances kinds shut it down.   What goes on nowadays?
