I'd love to charge Republicans a lot of money to make shit up.

They will only publish the stuff that makes him look good - and if you don't produce any, they'll probably dump you.

if it convinces him he's got a lock on states he's losing and vice versa. Makes him spend his cash on the wrong things.

        •  I beg to differ. Just look what happened over... (1+ / 0-)

... the past week on this site. People ready to jump off the roof in despair, just because of an unbelievable 5% drop in poll averages.

And frankly, there was nothing Romney did in the debate that could justify this. All he did was give a barely passable performance (if you accept gratuituously offering to axe the moderator and Big Bird still allows for "barely passable"). I'm not a partisan debate watcher, I can tell 'em as I see 'em, but the poll drop has been scary and inexplicable on the merits of the debate alone.

Now the dust is clearing. Turns out the tracking polls show barely a 2% movement post-debate. So it might be that the remaining 3% caught by 538 et al., is largely due to custom-ordered GOP "polls".

These faux polls helped create a narrative that has taken hold for some 10 days, and it was a bad narrative for our side.

the narrative was formed by the Media from Left to Right. And much of that perception had to do with atmospherics, the split screen showing Obama looking down, writing notes and grimacing at the lies he was hearing. Obama subdued, Rmoney up and at him.
The Right and Center Media jumped on that as their excuse for some old-tyme ObamaHate and it became the dominant story, whereupon, the polls, particularly the snap polls picked it up and ran with it.
The overreaction to the televised image struck me as shallow, but then, all these theatrical events are, by nature, shallow. There's no Tv ratings in substance.
If you didn't watch the debate but read the transcript, as I did, Obama did fine, Rmoney was nothing but a galluping lie machine, all circular "logic", bald-faced lies and bullying.
Yeah, a lot of people, here and elsewhere, over reacted, but that happened BEFORE the polls came out and once that hit the polls, it formed a negative feedback loop that drove the story deeper.
But what we're talking about is feeding the GOP campaign bullsh!t information, bad intel, so they charge the wrong hill, waste their resources, leave their flanks unguarded.
If nothing else, it would be a lot of fun.
And if we could get them to PAY for it....
