  •  It's great to see someone become so well-educated (7+ / 0-)

despite not going the conventional route. Keeping your brain in gear is the heart of the story, I think. Thanks for a fine first diary with an important message - hope to see many more.

We all understand that freedom isn't free. What Romney and Ryan don't understand is that neither is opportunity. We have to invest in it.

    •  It's not much good in the job market. (7+ / 0-)

It's like George Carlin used to say -

"They want you to be just smart enough to run the machines but dumb enough to accept the increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, reduced benefits and the end of overtime......"

A population incapable of critical thinking is in the best interest of the "owners." Being capable of critical thinking is NOT what the owners want.....that is against their interests.

So I'm not much good to The Owners.

I agree with one's brain in the same way as one's individual and collective power:

      "Use it or lose it."

"Because only three percent of you read books - and only fifteen percent of you read newspapers - but right now there is a whole and entire generation that didn't know anything that didn't come out of this tube." - Howard Beale
