View Diary: [New]: Daily Kos is Broken (285 comments)

  •  dkos4 needs to have an update tab or group (14+ / 0-)

so users know where to go look for the unannounced updates.

We don't need to follow the tag, just point us to where software updates are revealed and where we can give feed back to.

    •  Yes (8+ / 0-)

So we don't think there's something wrong at our end.

On top of that views for diaries no longer appear on diary lists and the second page of Rec List diaries don't list "new" comments either - a pain for those of us whose diaries have fallen off page 1 and need to check if there are any new comments (or new traffic as in diary views).

I'm not getting any response from the DK Help Desk on other problems either.  For months.  Not good.

    •  I'd be happy if there was a version number (1+ / 0-)

appear in the header or footer somewhere.  For a karma bonus, put in a last code change date after the version number--maybe with initials of responsible coder?  Make the version number useful as a clickable link that takes us to a 'release notes' page.

If we are having a single-login limit, perhaps indicate on the header which IP address has my current login.

Bad timing can be a problem too.  I had to swap out a dying computer and bring on board a replacement during this 1am time--that was inopportune.   For me, using Firefox 16 on the replacement computer, it didn't work to log-in from the front page dailykos.com site, but it did work when I went to new user and then logged in with my current user.  I don't know for sure if it does, but I'd just like to put out there that log-in isn't something that should require cross-site scripting. When bringing up the log-in menu, use script libraries hosted only on dailykos.com, and I suggest the login script really out to clear old cookies before starting the log-in. Don't call any cross-script functions until log-in itself completes.  I use settings that limit cross-scripts and won't give this up for security and privacy reasons.

In general, I often keep more than one 'tab' open to dailykos as I track responses to a given diary, comments, etc.  And I may access this site with more than one computing device in front of me.  I may compare a page on dailykos using more than one vendor's browser at a time.  This all worked fine before.

Here's an improvement I've been hoping to see.  Keep in mind the EFF's recommendations to push web sites towards adopt https: SSL security as the norm.  When are we going to see an https:// SSL secured version of dailykos?

    •  I almost always tag site update diaries (0+ / 0-)

with both 'meta' and 'dk4', though it think what we are building now is maybe dk4.5?
