  •  Mr. Murdoch has basically given an open invitation (5+ / 0-)

to everyone in the world to illegally surveil every moment of his life and business from now on.  Congratulations, douchebag - I hope you enjoy the taste of your own cooking.

protect that piece of shit now that he's basically declared himself above the laws of nations and spit in everyone's faces.  The bad news is that he probably still holds a lot of dirt on a lot of people that could still force people with leverage to protect him behind the scenes.  Also bad news is that he's a really old man, which means most of the heat will disappear when he steps aside or dies - and yet his organization will definitely continue to operate as it has.

The fact that Murdoch's tabloid enterprises spied illegally on famous people isn't especially important, aside from the fact that it's illegal which in itself doesn't rise to a matter of international significance.  What is important is what it implies about how he likely does business when it really matters, with respect to global political leaders he sees as hostile to his interests.  I'd like to know exactly how much, and in what way he interfered in American governance beyond merely running a Soviet-style propaganda machine for the Republicans.

Read ceebs's many posts on the Leveson testimony, the arrests and now, charges (equal to our indictments)  in England and Scotland (two different legal systems) showing that employees of his papers  illegally accessing or stealing and decoding phones/computers (cases differ) of politicians.

MP Tom Watson has offered to show evidence to RM that he has collected under parliamentary privilege to that effect.

Which pols: labour, friends of europe, prime ministers, and young women first time electees to parliament who were hounded because vulnerable (Levenson testimony particularly chilling there--ceebs in your man.

As for the US, patience is needed. one claim that phones were hacked in usa has not played out according to fbi. and FCPA is the way charges will be brought and that takes years.
