You know that if it wasn't for the contraction of public sector jobs, mostly in Red States, that overall job growth would be at record levels, right? The private sector numbers are VERY good, but Republican cuts at the state level have pulled the overall numbers down.
Another aspect of the GOP attack on Americans in order to make Obama a one term president.

    •  During the last month, yes, those 850,000 (0+ / 0-)

new jobs created IN ONE MONTH really were eye-popping!

However, we're still well below the number of jobs pre-2008 crash - even if only the private sector were considered.  That's by far the slowest rebound in anybody's lifetime who happens to be blogging at this site . . .

and that's, to a great extent, due to Congressional constipation courtesy of the GOP. Every program that could have boosted the recovery has been blocked and/or hacked to death.

I totally agree with the reason that the job growth has been agonizingly slow is because the GOP congress has blocked recovery initiatives.

Having said that - you can't turn around and say (against all evidence) that job growth has been at record levels (unless you meant record SLOW levels) - that's both factually incorrect and more or less validates the GOP's POV that government stimulus is not the way to go . . .

Though I concede your point since I can't show that private sector job growth has been recordbreaking.
My point is that we need both private AND public sectors to be strong in order to get back on our feet. I think we are in fundamental agreement there.

            •  Guess that just goes to show the bipartisan (0+ / 0-)

idiocy that virtually every state in the country boxed themself into by adopting balance budget amendments . ..  like they say, in a democracy people get the government they deserve.
