HBIII, going Godwin, in THIS particular instance, makes me wince. I don't want this particular instance to get pushed away as anything other than America, today, even with gallows humor. And I usually LOVE your sense of humor.

This is absolutely disgraceful, but the NYPD are Americans in 2012, not the Third Reich in 1938. It makes me ask the questions: has there BEEN a rise in antisemitism in the NYPD lately? Have they been harassing Jews? Or is this one isolated incident.

Because I know you've been amazing at tracking police brutality ever since Occupy started last year, and this seems like, even though they were obviously wrong, we need all the facts before anyone starts making hints that this about Nazism or antisemitic in nature.

I'm not saying it isn't... I'm saying, there's no audio, we don't know the full story.

You think the Nazis were the only authoritarians in human history?

the only authoritarians, or the only EVIL, in human history. Just when it comes to an obvious instance of wrongdoing in a synagog, against what we assume to be a Jewish Man, the language that we use to express our disgust and disapproval needs to be appropriately chosen for the real circumstances.

Hey, if there has been a rash of increased antisemitism in  the NYPD, so much that this is systemic, and they as a whole have they've earned jokes and derision on this basis? then I have absolutely no problem with anyone calling them on it.

that they're equal-opportunity authoritarian thugs.  Certainly that's the lesson I learn from incidents such as those involving Messrs. Louima and Diallo, and a host of Occupy abuses, and those just for starters.

First of all, Nazi are not a "protected" minority around here, LOL! And, we are all adults.

Several people didn't even "get it" when they read his comment, until I pointed it out.

Third, if you know the diarist, and how many wonderful, superb diaries - INCLUDING THIS ONE - about police brutality he has written, I think he was using a phrase that has been used VERY FREQUENTLY as a inside joke, ever since the brutality displayed by multiple municipalities on Occupy. HB3's record stands for itself. It was more an "Occupy" point of view that just popped out. Which is exactly why I didn't HR the comment myself.
