  •  Campaigns don't like surprises (8+ / 0-)

But I suspect this will help our side out. Romney/Ryan's platform fall apart under scrutiny, while Obama has been making the same points and arguments since he first appeared in public life.

One of the reasons Debate 1 went awry is precisely because of the passive facilitator role of the moderator (Lehrer).  One of the reasons the VP debate worked better was because of the active moderating role played by the moderator (Raddatz) .  I am not a fan of Candy "Dulce to Bush" Crowley, however, I think follow up questions and demanding specificity will slash away at Romney's platform.  It is up to the president to be prepared to be crisp, engaged, and substantive; if he does his homework, he will weather the scrutiny better.

I vote Democratic because I am a woman with self-respect , who rejects bigotry of all kinds, subscribes to science, believes in universal health care, embraces unions, and endorses smart internationalist foreign policy.

    •  Crowley is a con. She won't scrutinize Romney. (10+ / 0-)

If Crowley asks follow-up questions, she will try to burn Obama with gotcha questions while throwing softballs to Romney that will allow Romney to repeat his talking points.

Crowley has decided to rig this debate in Romney's favor.
