    A caveat on swimming -- some people find it makes their appetite spike badly, and that it's counterproductive while dieting.  It's hypothesized that it's because the water cools your core temperature, and your body wants to add fat.  

    It is fabulous exercise, though.

      But since I swim in the real early a.m., that just means I get to load up on breakfast and I swear to you I can literally feel my body burning the calories from breakfast like a damned bonfire.  The core temperature drop doesn't last long.  Your apetite is back to normal pretty quickly.  Early morning is definitely the best time to swim, probably in part for that reason.
