  •  Then you're not looking at the polls? (6+ / 0-)

The polls say Obama is winning.  Go look at Pollster.  I linked the national chart in a comment above, and the state map has Obama still above 270, with NH/VA/FL/CO/NV all still winnable tossups.

.. a simple average though, it's a trendline. Which I actually prefer. But you can easily be "looking at the polls" and come to andgarden's conclusion, at least when it comes to national polls: according to Pollster.com's own listing, 5 out of the last 9 polls have Romney up, 3 have Obama up, and 1 has them tied. Take out Rasmussen and Zogby and it's 4-2-1.

Their Electoral College map, though, you are right, shows Obama in a more clearly favourable position (Obama 271, Romney 206). They get there by putting Ohio and Iowa in Obama's column. Which is only fair: the only polls that have had Romney ahead in Ohio this past week were Gravis and ARG, whereas CNN, Marist, PPP, SUSA, and even Rasmussen and a Republican pollster have shown Obama ahead, by margins of 1-6%. And while the last three Iowa polls were done by Rasmussen, ARG and We Ask America, even they couldn't show a Romney lead.
