  •  Oh, I will. (7+ / 0-)

Is this all played out on her blog?  I never saw any tweets about it (though my feed it way too big these days).

    •  No. There was a piece in the NYT slamming (7+ / 0-)

her for not paying musicians. The comments go back and forth.

What some comments highlight is her charitable performances and charitable giving, links included. She's not your typical singer/artist/musician.

      •  I see both sides. (7+ / 0-)

90% of my friends here in L.A. are musicians.  A hell of a lot of them would happily play with an artist they liked for beer and goodies.  She is honest about it in her ads, so that is in her favor.  Still, she should do some more Kickstarter funding to get a full PAID band.  I'm sure she'd get it.  I'd kick in some more.

        •  We should let her know. (7+ / 0-)

She does seem to listen. Another kickstarter for the band.

The grief she got over raising so much for her first album! I do wonder what the story is there.

Kickstarter is lovely and all, but most bands just take the risk and go on tour without making fans pay up front first. AND they pay their backup bands, all without resorting to kickstarter. And a lot of them don't have wealthy famous artists for husbands.

So, the woman has a wealthy artist for a husband, kickstarts for her touring money, and then still won't pay the backup band. That is the story.

I'm sure she is a lovely and talented person, and not some sort of scroogey labor hater, but sometimes people, through no real fault of their own, get very full of self-importance, and stop thinking of the "little people." Or rather, they start thinking the little people should be grateful to even be seen near their own exalted presence. Kinda like Mitt Romney.

That's why it is sometimes helpful, and not really an insult, to let people know, they aren't all that. Deflating over-inflated egos is a good thing.
