    it trickles up. In most societies wealth naturally tends to flow from the poorest to the richest as a matter of course. To counteract this tendency requires a lot of effort and organization on the part of people who don't have a lot of money.

    So the Left always has to work much harder than the Right, because its trajectory is upstream.

    A thriving middle class can act as a kind of buffer or transition zone that facilitates a downward transition of wealth, and an upward path of mobility for the poorest people. But when the top echelons of wealth rob the middle class of what leverage they have, it becomes next to impossible to reverse the flow. Then instead of being just a trickle, it becomes a torrent.
