This is a nation that's come to fetishize war, militarism, bravado, and American Exceptionalism.  We've become the country that says to the rest of the world, "Sure we let our torturers walk scot-free, what the fuck are you candy-asses gonna do about it?"  Like the Imperial Romans we now have policies that say foreigners can become citizens by serving in our legions, and while we have no money for schoolbooks for children, there's always more money for bombs and bombers.

In such a polity it becomes inevitable that increasingly the government becomes one more barracks, one more bivouac, filled with ever more belligerent warriors (we don't train soldiers anymore you know, our military  produces "warriors") until our government will take on a shade not unlike that we've seeded in much of the hemisphere for a century, except now in the Heimat, er "Homeland".  Expect more, not fewer, Allen Wests in the years ahead.

Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?

The average school district spends $12,000 per student, and you say there is no money to buy a fucking book? Do the math, where is all the money going if there are 25 kids in a classroom.  A teacher only makes 50,000 average.
