    heavy turnout

State elections director Gary Bartlett said he believes the in-person early vote will meet or exceed 2008 totals. Bitzer predicts two-thirds of the ballots could be cast before Election Day. There are now nearly 6.6 million registered voters, 300,000 more compared to November 2008.
"There are going to be long lines at early voting sites and long lines on Election Day," he said.

As we know, heavier turnout is almost always good news for DEMS, so we are cautiously optimistic for now. You can get more information about early voting in NC here: http://vote.barackobama.com/....

    •  Don't think RCP factors YouGov (0+ / 0-)

which only showed it a 1-point margin. PPP had it two points. I don't think that +4.7 is what the campaigns are seeing.

    •  Most of those polls are Rasmussen which (0+ / 0-)

are skewing the average.  Romney wouldn't be spending as much money as he is in NC if he had a 5 point lead in the state.  This race has been in the plus or minus 2 point range forever.  Obama's strong debate performance probably earned him an extra point or two, particularly among white female voters.  That means that NC will be contested until the end, and that by itself is good news for the Obama campaign.
