  •  Well, since you're really into this topic (24+ / 0-)

and willing to tell it like it is, let me suggest that abortion is a natural spontaneous process and the extraction of foreign cells is something else.
It's probably too late to change the terminology. Besides, there's the advantage that banning something that isn't is akin to doing nothing at all. Indeed, that's likely a major reason the cons keep harping on this issue. It's certain to fail and therefore a guarantor of longevity in public office. Politicians can talk about it forever and everyone will understand when they fail and won't hold it against them.
But, what we should object to is the fear that is induced in women-- fear that is incapacitating, which is the point.
I do not know what the cons have against women. Perhaps it's just a matter of not being able to recognize their own kind and thinking that all living things exist to be exploited by them, the ex-men (male and female). It's a Euro-American tradition to

    Explore
    Examine
    Extract
    Exploit
    Export
    Exact
    Excuse
    Exhaust
    Exterminate
    Execute
    Expell
    Expropriate

These are the behaviors of people who take without giving anything back. Predatory humans, for whom human husbandry is a kinder/gentler alternative in that they delay to exploit instead of executing the prey on the spot. That  anyone should presume to interfere with the production of the supply of exploitable humans is simply unacceptable and interferes with the right to property.
American culture isn't materialistic because we value things over people, but because, from the beginning, some people have been treated like property, disposable at will. That's the attitude which Rumsfeld famously expressed when he referred to the troops as "fungible."

We organize governments to provide benefits and prevent abuse.
