And Ryan is (nominally) Catholic. As is St. Vincent de Paul, the charity that he trashed.
No need to drag a different set of mythology into this.
Mitt will give you the chance to go after them another day.

    •  I am perfectly clear about the who, what (0+ / 0-)

where of this event and the specific religious associations that Ryan was trying to make when he staged his photo-op.

But I am not clear on whether or not the guy at the top of the ticket has anything in his playbook like Matthew 25.

Given that both claim to be so motivated by their respective faiths and are intent on subjecting the rest of us to their personal religious views, I think it is a fair question.

      •  It is an interesting Q (0+ / 0-)

I just didn't want to muddy the water. There's an almost reflexive Mormon bashing that shadows this campaign on both right and left. Regardless of whether it's deserved or not.
We'll get to Rmoney and his "faith" or Faiths, since his real faith is in Mammon, but right now we're on Ryan and the Catholics (and Mammon).

        •  I do not believe that telling the truth which (0+ / 0-)

is that the Church of Latter Day Saints does not venerate Jesus is "bashing".  It is a simple fact.  It is like pointing out that a Buddhist is not thinking "Jesus" or an atheist isn't an adherent to "Jesus" per se.

What I think is interesting is how many people make comments about the Republicans and their relationship to Jesus when the current "head of the the party" is not a follower of him, or the Pope or any other "Christian" faith.

Making the distinction is more accurate for the sake of the record than many of the comments I've seen lately about their collective motivations.

The truth is that a Mormon should be about as relevant to a Fundamentalist Christian or Catholic as an atheist, a Jewish person or a Muslim might be, but some how they have found common cause.
