  •  Can't follow your idea about the food deliveries. (0+ / 0-)

If the comment was an attempt at sarcasm, it was incredibly ill advised. The comment is certain to hurt the feelings of the diarist who came here because he thought we had empathy for their plight. If I was the diarist, I would read this comment as an insult. Try to put yourself into his position.

    •  I read it as the opposite (0+ / 0-)

as a rhetorical question "Do you like Chinese Food?" with an answer (from the diarist) of "Not enough to move to China." At which point, I think the original poster would have been empathetic to him. I think they feel the same way about his company shipped out and are just coping with it differently. I don't read it as an insult, but as an attempt at empathy, just not a well-written one so much as a "slap-on-the-back and buck up" sort of one.

      •  Key point here being I don't see sarcasm (0+ / 0-)

I see a rhetorical question which leads to an ironic situation.

        •  I don't know. If it is, it is still incredibly ill (0+ / 0-)

advised. You could talk like that to a very close buddy - if you knew how they would react, that they would get your joke.
Not to a guy on the internet that you've never met and who doesn't know you at all.
But I get what you mean.
It would be interesting to hear from Rich in PA. Maybe he could explain what his intentions were and withdraw the comment.
Even if it was an attempt at a joke among buddies, I think it
still comes across as offensive and therefore is disruptive.
